After Manhunt, Police Arrest Suspect In Fatal SE Portland Hit-and-run

Portland police have arrested a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash at Southeast 148th and Powell Boulevard. The crash took place Monday afternoon shortly before 3 p.m. Police said lanes are closed and drivers should avoid the area.

After a search of the area, Portland Police announced at 5 p.m. that they had made an arrest, but hadn’t released the suspect’s name.

A Portland Fire & Rescue spokesman said an adult woman was struck and killed at the scene.

Kristi Rogers, who is staying at a house near Southeast 148th and Powell, told a reporter she heard a loud crash. She ran outside to see a man open the back door of a car that had hit at least one other vehicle, grab some kind of shirt or sweatshirt, and run from the crash site.
