Police arrested the detained principal and a teacher of Koyradanga Noorani Hafeziya Madrasa of Alamdanga upazila in Chuadanga, for raping and slaughtering a second-grade madrasa boy.
On Wednesday night, police detained five teachers of the madrasa, including the accused principal, Mufti Abu Hanif, and assistant teacher Tamim-E-Dari, to interrogate them about the murder, said Alamdanga police station OC (investigation) Mahbubur Rahman.
“After thorough interrogation, Hanif and Tamim confessed to their crimes and both of them were arrested on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning respectively,” the OC added.
He said the accused were produced before a Chuadanga court and police sought a five-day-remand for both, on Saturday afternoon.
On Wednesday morning, police recovered the decapitated body of Abir Hossain, 11, from a mango orchard in Koyradanga of Alamdanga upazila. The boy was missing since after dinner on Tuesday.
Police sources said Abir was killed to cover up the crimes committed by the madrasa teachers.
